P4Draft2

  • Description: Basically, this is an inspiration montage I created using two blended images, type, and Photoshop.
  • Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):  Programs: I used Photoshop to make this image. Tools: I started with my railroad photo and the photo of the boy and used a mask and the Brush tool to blend the two of them.  I added a filter to the railroad to blur the edges and bring the just the tracks into focus.  I then used the Lasso tool to brighten just the boy, particularly his eyes, and bring up the saturation. The text was pretty simple and I just added drop shadows to bring them out. Even though the project requires the body text to be 12pt font or less, Brother Pingle approved of the body text being 24pt font because a smaller text doesn’t mesh with the design. Skills: As for skills, I used my sweet and newly acquired Photoshop skills to make this montage awesome.
  • Message: Short people are awesome.  My intended message is that despite your circumstances you can still be awesome and do hard things.  I chose the railroad for the background because it symbolizes hard work.  I chose the boy because he conveys the good attitude and optimism.
  • Audience: My audience is everyone, especially those who feel a bit discouraged.
  • Top Thing Learned: I probably learned the most about how the tools in Photoshop work, particularly the filters and the masks.
  • Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied: I put a blur filter on the background and then a saturation colorization on the boy to bring out the blue in his shirt.
  • Color scheme and color names: Primary: Blue and Red, excluding yellow.
