My Vector Vespa

I have always always wanted a Vespa.  When I was in middle school my older sister and I got a set of scooters that were similar to Vespas, but they were electric and could only go about a mile and a half before they died.  I remember riding to piano lessons and then charging it at my teacher’s house before riding home again.  They were so much fun!

I no longer have that little red scooter, but now I have a pink Vespa – an illustrated pink Vespa!

Process:

I began my process by creating a Pinterest board full of bikes I liked.  It was actually really difficult to choose a bike and style that I wanted to do because there were pretty much no limits.  I then started sketching different  bikes I had pinned and that was when I decided that I liked the Vespa the best.

Next, I jumped in Adobe Illustrator and began to create a vector Vespa.  It was a lot more time consuming than I had expected.   There were way more details than I had thought and it was challenging to get the shape of the bike just right. I used the pen tool and ellipse tool the most.  I still don’t know everything about Illustrator so I sometimes make things harder than they should be.

Final Product:

I’m happy with how my Vespa turned out.  I would have liked to put a person on the bike, but that would take more time than I have at the moment.  I would like to keep working on that though as a personal project.
