American Motorcycle
Personal Style Series
Another semester is coming to a close and here is my final project for my COMM 316 Professional Imaging course: Personal Style Series
My photography life has been a real journey. I feel like I have struggled a lot to get where I am and it has become very rewarding to see some of the images I have been able to create. I still haven’t been able to nail down my own personal style though. I know what I don’t like to do, but I’m not sure that I have a particular “style” or strongest area of photography.
For this series I decided to create a style: the American motorcycle series. The day after Independence day (July 4th) I went on a motorcycle ride with my friend Matt Doggett and we had a little photo shoot. He had flags still taped to his motorcycle and he just looked so classy with the sunglasses and the sunset. Therefore; I have named this series American Motorcycle. I decided to make the images black and white because they look older and represent the history of an American life.
I really enjoyed creating this series and I wouldn’t mind doing more things like this. All I know is that I like to be in control of my photography situation. I like to be creative and do what I want. I don’t like trying to please other people. I need to have the freedom to go as wild and crazy as I wish.
I had 10 images to choose from for my series, but I only used six of them for the final piece.
I also considered adding firework photos that I had taken the night before in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Even though fireworks are very patriotic and American, they didn’t fit the series, so I left them out. Plus, fireworks look much better in color.
Check out the guy at the bottom in the right photo up above. He was really enjoying the firework show!
Lindsay, you definitely had one of my favorite projects. Its so classic! I love how you did a series for this! Seriously, you are so talented and I continue to admire you. Great job!
I love your creative photography Lindsey! I think that is part of your style- that you look at things creatively. It’s taken me forever to figure out my style in painting and it’s still changing. Just take lots and lots of photos and you’ll get into your groove and figure out what you like most. And the best thing about photography and art is that you are the artist and you can change your style whenever you want. You can evolve over time 🙂
Lindsey! Nice stuff. This is some unique work for you. You are really a master of color in my mind, so it was interesting to see you black and whites. Motorcycles and america is a fun theme, and I love the angles that you were able to find. It reminds me of vintage motorcycles in the black and white. Keep up the great work!
I love that you can do everything so well! Your portraits are amazing, and your style is stunning! Good luck in life! Cant wait for Photoshop world!

Lindsey! Your photos always amaze me. I love how you really focused in on such a neat series and you were able to capture so many different angles and it seemed so American. LOVE THIS! It is so classy and old school–it’s got a cool 60’s feel to it. You got so creative!! I love how you didn’t choose YOUR style, but just went out and found a style for the project. That shows that you can do any style. 🙂
These really showcase your versatility! Even though theta wasn’t your theme, it’s cool to see how many different angles you were able to take of this one subject! You are an awesome photographer Lindsey!

Lindsey, your project looked awesome, and you had such a solid presentation! I really admire how humble you are about your work because it’s so good. I always looked forward to your posts – always impressed. Best of luck to you!
Lindsey! You are really good. I don’t often say that but as I peruse your work I find myself consistently impressed. The images of this blog are super freakin’ rad and I hope you feel proud of them.
Now on a more personal note :), I really like you as a person. I really enjoy being around you. You are super fun, always uplifting, and very positive. It’s extremely refreshing! As I spend time with you I find more and more qualities that I wish to emulate within myself. Thank you for being a wonderful example in photography, design etc. but also as a disciple of Christ.
Lindsey freaking LeFevre, you are one creative lady! I am always so impressed with all of your awesome artistic work! Your personal style series is perfect because it shows how creative you are through all of the different perspectives you were able to capture of one subject. Congratulations on being crowned Queen of the Photographics Society next semester by the way 😉 You are so talented and I’m so excited to follow your rise to success! Good luck with everything!
I know you already have a ton of comments on this post but honestly, your personal style project was probably my favorite. I love how you got these amazing shots with this super cool motorcycle, but you didn’t over do it. Your shots are simple and understated, and that’s a good thing. They’re also personable too, if that’s a thing, or I guess more nostalgic. They make me think of my grandpa and anything that makes me think of people I love is great in my book!
Thanks very interesting blog!
